Killer Potential – Deitch Hannah (2025)

A scholarship student with straight As and enormous potential, Evie Gordon has always believed she is special and destined to become someone. After graduating from an elite university, however, she is drowning in debt and working as a private tutor for the children of Los Angeles’s super-rich. Her life changes when she arrives at the Victor family’s lavish mansion and finds the bloody remains of Mr and Mrs Victor in the garden, while a woman cries for help from inside the house. Within moments, Evie and the woman go from bystanders to suspects to fugitives. At the centre of a nationwide manhunt, Evie discovers that her mysterious, silent companion has become the most important person in her upside-down life. Meanwhile, the press turns Evie into a new Charles Manson, a bloodthirsty ninety-nine-percenter supposedly intent on starting a class war. At last, and disastrously, Evie is someone. Droll, dark and deeply insightful, Killer Potential is a breakneck thriller, a queer love story and a darkly funny critique of late capitalism and the stories about our potential that shape our lives.
