Jaylen “JJ” Jones’s hockey career seems to be over after he fails to secure an NHL contract with the Seattle Rainiers, so he says goodbye to the city with an anonymous one-night stand. When a last-minute roster spot opens up, however, superstitious Jaylen connects his good fortune to Lucy Ross, the aspiring tattoo artist he spent the night with, and needs her to remain his lucky charm. Lucy has never considered herself lucky, but with her own career at a standstill and an apprenticeship offering little stability, Jaylen’s proposal gives her something to gain. Their arrangement is simple: she sends him a good-luck text before each game, and he provides tattooing practice for her portfolio. Yet the exchange of favors soon sparks an irresistible chemistry. Lucy has endured too many situationships to risk becoming attached again, while Jaylen seems to want her only as long as she helps his game.
