Description
This paperback novel returns to Panem for the fiftieth Hunger Games, when the Quarter Quell requires twice as many tributes to be taken from their homes. In District 12, Haymitch Abernathy is trying to get through the day and remain with the girl he loves, but when his name is called, he is torn from his family and sent to the Capitol with three other tributes: a young friend who is almost like a sister, a compulsive odds-maker and the town’s most conceited girl. As the Games begin, Haymitch realizes that he has been set up to fail, yet something in him wants to fight, with consequences reaching far beyond the deadly arena. Sunrise on the Reaping adds depth to the world of The Hunger Games through themes of misinformation and propaganda, combining brutality and tenderness with suspense and action. It is the fifth novel in the series, following The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, Mockingjay and The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. The Hunger Games novels have been adapted into feature films, and a film adaptation of this novel is slated for November 2026.
