Drawing on a vast body of brain research, psychiatrist, author and thinker Iain McGilchrist argues that the two sides represent two whole, coherent but incompatible ways of experiencing the world. The detail-oriented left hemisphere favors mechanisms over living things and tends toward self-interest, while the right hemisphere offers greater breadth, flexibility and generosity.
