Hot Spot Level 3: Activity Book – Granger Colin (2010)

This activity book accompanies the Hot Spot English coursebook and provides further practice and consolidation, especially of grammar and vocabulary. It follows the structure of the Student’s Book and includes an Extra Practice section at the end with additional activities for Fast Finishers, allowing the teacher to work with students who are still completing earlier tasks. Reading is developed through a comic story at the end of the book, which the teacher can use after each module, after the whole coursebook, or omit. The Hot Spot coursebook is designed for lower-secondary school students and younger grammar-school students aged 10–14. It is divided into seven modules, each containing four two-page lessons. The first three lessons focus on grammar and vocabulary, while the fourth develops language skills through topics drawn from British, American and non-English-speaking cultures. Each module ends with a revision lesson and an Extra Special section featuring songs, games and mini-projects. A Grammar Reference section summarises the grammar covered in each lesson, supported by functional illustrations. The Glooms, an unusual family with unexpected interests and a distinctive way of life, appear throughout the course and help make learning and using English more engaging.
