Description
Separated from her twin brother Sebastian after a shipwreck, Viola disguises herself as a boy to serve Duke Orsino. When she woos a countess on his behalf, she is stunned to discover that she has become the object of the countess’s affections. Amorous intrigues, practical jokes, sexual confusion and riotous disorder follow in this lyrical and hugely popular romantic comedy, which explores both the delights and the perils of desire. This edition is used and recommended by the National Theatre, with Stanley Wells as general editor, edited by M. M. Mahood and introduced by Michael Dobson.
