Description
Aging writer Mojmír has never come to terms with his divorce. Behind the mask of a seasoned cynic lies a disappointed, pain-ridden, and insecure man who has never forgiven his wife Hedvika for leaving him when he needed her the most. His own daughters don't want to see him much, so the central figure in his life at the moment is a doula (whom readers may know as the narrator from Michal Viewegh's previous novels Biomanželka and Biomanžel). Although she is somewhat of Mojmír's indispensable assistant, he constantly belittles and insults her. So when Mojmír's friend Felix, who was supposed to accompany him on a vacation to the Maldives, suddenly dies, the writer decides not to cancel the trip – and invites his indispensable opponent of opinion instead. After that, it only takes a few glasses of alcohol for something to begin that Mojmír never planned even in his wildest dreams…
