Description
My child is not my own. For Martin and Tereza, two young parents of six-year-old Jakub, those words have been ringing in their heads since Karel and Olga, the parents of six-year-old Tomáš, told them that there had been a mix-up at the hospital. That the families took home the wrong child. No one is prepared for such a situation. For six years, you give your best to a child you love above all else. And now you know that they were born to someone else. What is one supposed to do in such a moment? What matters more? Blood, or the care and love you have already given to the child? Each of the four parents has a different opinion on how to solve the problem. However, over time, the natural desire to know their own child prevails in all of them. To meet, to be with them, while not harming the other. Yet, old grievances and hatreds complicate everything even further. Cuckoos is not just a story about a mix-up of children in a hospital. Through its strong initial plot, the narrative delves into the more general theme of parenthood. Everyone in the story tries to do their best to succeed as parents. And even though it doesn't always work out, it is clear that a functioning family is the most important thing.
