Description
After the unexpected death of Rudolf of Habsburg, known as Kaše, Henry of Bohemia returns to the Czech throne. He is the husband of Anne of Bohemia, the eldest daughter of Wenceslaus II. Melichar of Roupov remains in his service as a royal judge, although his position is highly uncertain. Gerard, the new abbot of Strahov Monastery and a native of France, asks him to investigate a series of mysterious murders among the Strahov Premonstratensians, crimes that seem to have been committed by the devil himself. What infernal schemes are unfolding at Strahov, and is someone trying to drive the Premonstratensian order away? Judge Melichar and his assistant Božetěch face a difficult task, while the hot-tempered King Henry of Bohemia threatens to strip them of their offices if they fail to solve the mysterious case.
