Description
A harsh yet sensitive story of Jewish woman Stella Goldschlag, a victim of unspeakable cruelties, who was later forced to inflict unspeakable cruelties on others. It is the year 1942. Friedrich, a quiet young man from the shores of Lake Geneva, arrives in Berlin. At an art school, he meets Kristin, who takes him to secret jazz clubs and drinks cognac with him. He receives his first kiss from her and can convince himself that the war is far away. However, one morning, Kristin knocks on his door, injured, and admits that she did not tell him the truth. Her real name is Stella, and she is Jewish. The Gestapo has discovered her and forces her into a devilish agreement: if she betrays hiding Jews, she will save her parents. Will Stella accept this proposal, or will she refuse? This story from Nazi Germany, based on true events, raises the dilemma of whether one should betray oneself or one’s own family.
