Description
Red Stovall (Clint Eastwood) is a drifter from the Great Depression, whose burning passions are two things: the whiskey he downs and the dream he chases: singing at the Grand Ole Opry concert hall. He sets off on a journey from Oklahoma to audition in Nashville with his nephew White (Clint's son Kyle Eastwood), who is supposed to help him get there safely and keep Red in line the whole time. The older Eastwood also directs this entertaining and heartfelt film, offering a listen to enchanting country music with Marty Robbins, Ray Price, John Anderson, Frizzell and West, Linda Hopkins for a scorching touch of blues – and also himself. Richly nostalgic and brilliantly acted, Honkytonk Man hits the right notes of solid entertainment.
