Description
It is the early 18th century and the fragile Queen Anne (Olivia Colman) sits on the British throne. However, the real power is held by her closest friend, Lady Sarah (Academy Award® winner Rachel Weisz*), who governs the country while caring for the ailing and moody Anne. When a new maid, Abigail (Academy Award® winner Emma Stone**), appears at the royal court, Sarah takes her under her protective wing. Ambitious Abigail, however, quickly begins to rise in the social ladder, and the queen's favorite Sarah feels she has a strong competitor growing.
