In the new film narrative by the creative team behind Pelíšky and Musíme si pomáhat, we once again travel back in time, this time just before the Orwellian year 1984. To a time when history in Bohemia flowed slowly like the murky waters of the Vltava River, which encircles the peripheral Prague Libeň Island. To an era when the air faintly smelled of mildew, much like the blind arms and bends of this Central European river. We find ourselves in a time when the generation of the Prague Spring of 1968, remembering the tremor of violently interrupted freedom, has life slipping through their fingers like a lazily flowing river, which carries away ancient illusions with its silt and mud. The main character of the film Pupendo is the academic sculptor Bedřich Mára, who lives with his family, his wife - ceramicist Alena and their two sons - Matěj and Bobš in a small apartment on the Prague waterfront. Years ago, he had to leave his position as head of the studio at the Prague Academy for political reasons. For the same reasons, he is not listed in the official Union of Visual Artists.
