Description
This DVD presents a legendary gangster classic in which real-life friends James Cagney and Pat O’Brien work together for the sixth time. Cagney plays Rocky Sullivan, a charismatic tough guy whose rise through the underworld turns him into the hero of his local slum gang. O’Brien is Father Connolly, Rocky’s childhood friend who later becomes a priest and vows to end his old friend’s criminal path. They are joined by Humphrey Bogart as a womanizing lawyer, Ann Sheridan as Rocky’s headstrong girlfriend, and the Dead End Kids as street thugs. Michael Curtiz, the director of Casablanca, skilfully brings the story to the screen. Cagney received the 1938 New York Film Critics Award for Best Actor, and the film was nominated for three Oscars, including one for Cagney.
