Description
Jack Torrance (Steven Weber) and his family (Rebecca De Mornay and Courtland Mead) move into the vast, empty Overlook Hotel to escape everything: the alcoholism destroying Jack’s writing career and the violent outbursts ruining his past. But Jack’s young son Danny knows and sees more. He possesses a psychic gift called the shining, which the hotel’s evil spirits desire and seek. In Stephen King’s hands, the “dead” Overlook Hotel comes terrifyingly to life. Apparitions lurk everywhere, the word “murder” appears with horrifying frequency, and even the garden hedges transform into terrifying creatures. This atmospheric horror film is based on a screenplay by King, adapted from his own novel, and directed by Mick Garris, known for adapting King’s work in Sleepwalkers and The Stand.
