Dune: War for Arrakis is a thematic strategic board game focused on the events of the Desert War in the acclaimed book Dune by Frank Herbert. The cunning House Harkonnen, supported by the imperial House Corrino, must fight against the remnants of House Atreides, who have allied with the native Fremen, for control of Arrakis and its most valuable resource: the spice known as melange. In this asymmetric game, House Harkonnen must dominate Arrakis with their soldiers, for if the spice were to cease flowing, they would lose the support of the powers within the Empire. Meanwhile, Paul Muad'Dib, the young Atreides leader and messiah, must lead the Fremen rebels and, through his prescient visions, find the path to the fate of Arrakis, the inevitable jihad, and a future where he becomes the Kwisatz Haderach. While the Harkonnens rely on their technology such as ornithopters and carryalls, the Atreides have tamed the power of the desert and ride into battle on enormous sandworms.
