Description
On the surface, Café Society is the best of New York; in reality, it is a notorious 1930s nightclub filled with litres of alcohol, scores of prostitutes, occasional fights and, of course, sex. Mickey Jelke is both a regular visitor and a very wealthy heir, which makes him unpopular, as everyone tries to take his money. He is also watched by a police detective who wants to convict him of procuring through Mickey’s girlfriend, Pet. She agrees to help, leaving Mickey with little chance of standing up in court. But is he guilty? It seems the worlds of the police and politics are even more corrupt than Café Society, the place everyone condemns but many secretly dream about.
