Despite the fact that the inhabitants of French Polynesia have always lived in a respected and quiet community with these fearsome predators, this species is now on the brink of extinction. They are literally being hunted on a large scale for the shark fin trade. Environmentalist Alexandra Cousteau, the granddaughter of the famous oceanographer and filmmaker Jacques-Yves Cousteau, has ventured into the South Pacific to fight for the preservation of these mysterious and still fascinating creatures. Together with her, we will dive to Shark Wall, which lies deep below the surface of the lagoon at Rangiroa, the second largest coral island in the world, and we will try to answer the question of what fate awaits sharks in Polynesia.
