Description
Dad Richard (Greg Kinnear) desperately tries to sell his motivational program on how to be successful... without any success. Mother and 'guardian of honor' Sheryl (Toni Collette) is a support for her eccentric family and now also has her depressed brother (Steve Carell) on her hands, who has just been released from the hospital after being dumped. And then there are the Hoovers' kids - seven-year-old Olive (Abigail Breslin), who dreams of becoming a beauty queen, and Nietzsche admirer Dwayne (Paul Dano) - a teenager currently in a phase of deep silence. The cherry on the family cake is the foul-mouthed grandfather (Alan Arkin), who was recently kicked out of a nursing home for his bad behavior. But when Olive gets the chance to compete in the prestigious 'Little Miss Sunshine' pageant in faraway California, the family packs into an old rusty Volkswagen van and sets off on a long journey. Their support will have truly hilarious consequences.
