Description
It's 1959, Kit (Martin Sheen) has murdered several people, and his new girlfriend Holly (Sissy Spacek) was there. To escape punishment, they flee through South Dakota and Montana, pretending nothing has happened. However, the guilt is too great and haunts them at every turn. Badlands is the first of three significant films by writer/director Terrence Malick (Days of Heaven, 1978 and The Thin Red Line, 1998) inspired by the true, chilling story of murders in the American Midwest in 1958. Malick creatively transforms the story into a provocative study of people alienated from ordinary life. Beautifully shot and unforgettable in its performances, Badlands is a cinematic journey.
