SUBURBAN PEOPLE is a cleverly mixed cocktail of grotesque and thrilling detective story, featuring the kind humor that has made Tom Hanks one of the most popular stars of today. Ray Peterson's (Tom Hanks) plans for a peaceful vacation at his suburban home are disrupted by the arrival of new neighbors with somewhat peculiar manners and habits. To the great disappointment of his wife Carol (Carrie Fisher), Ray decides to spend a relaxing week at home and soon finds himself in conflict with his neighbors - a burly snoop (Rick Docommum), a deranged former soldier (Bruce Dern), and a dreamy teenager (Corey Feldman). However, they all watch in amazement as strange events unfold at the residence of the new neighbors. When the typical rumbling and buzzing from the Klopks' house suddenly stops, the neighbors begin to fear the worst and decide to investigate what happened. Armed to the teeth with rifles, state-of-the-art binoculars, and a shovel, they want to uncover the Klopks' secret with their own eyes.
