Description
The film based on the eponymous memoir tells the story of Zdeněk Svěrák's childhood spent in the countryside during World War II, after his family had to move out of their apartment in Prague. The gentle, cherished boy Eda faces a challenging task: to find and defend his place in a new group of boys, learn to throw stones, and walk barefoot on the stubble. However, he must also navigate the life roles of his closest family members – his kind mother, strict grandfather, unheroic father, and forbidden uncle. The courage of both children and adults is tested not only by the circumstances of war but also by the uncovering of a family secret.
