Description
One day, top business consultant Markus Maria Weber throws his secure existence overboard and plunges headfirst into adventure. He hops on a bike and sets off on a journey – through 26 countries, all the way to Togo in Africa. His route takes him through remote Eastern European villages and along impassable sandy roads to West Africa. He hitchhikes across the Sahara, bikes through the inaccessible Guinean rainforest. In Liberia, he clandestinely crosses closed border crossings. And all of this just to answer two questions: Who am I? And then: Is there actually coffee to go in Togo? ***** Markus Maria Weber, born in 1981 in Freiburg im Breisgau, worked for seven years for the world's largest corporate consulting firm. After many nights spent in impersonal office buildings and hotel beds, the then thirty-one-year-old manager took a year off and rode his bike to Togo to have a coffee there. The manuscript of his debut book was written during business trips, in waiting rooms of Deutsche Bahn, on airplanes, and during countless cups of coffee to go.
