Description
This Czech-language audiobook is the fifth installment in the complete works of Vladimír Körner. It tells a tragic, darkly lyrical story set in a wartime hospital of the Austro-Hungarian army during the First World War. The young widow Anežka wants to atone for the harm caused by her husband, a major in the imperial and royal army, and volunteers to nurse the wounded. She begins a love affair with one of them, but it ends tragically. The novella was first published in 1988 and became the basis for a feature film directed by Miloslav Luther in 1993. Igor Bareš reads the recording.
