Description
The fourth title by writer Martina Formanová under the Tebenas label is the only novel by the author that does not stem from autobiographical experiences. The story follows twenty-year-old Daniela, who in the 1980s tries to find her own space in the gray and dull Prague. Through a few small deceptions, lies, and a stroke of luck, she manages to emigrate across the Atlantic. There, after a challenging struggle, her fortunes turn, and Daniela heads towards her dream happiness. However, a Velvet Revolution breaks out in her home country, and her fiancé wants to know his future wife's homeland at all costs. Thus, Daniela returns to Czechoslovakia, which she wanted to erase from her mind forever. She has no idea how much this short-term return will change her life.
