An apparently mismatched duo. On one side, a master of spoken word, a reciter, an actor, but also a voice teacher, whose lessons are fondly remembered by dozens of students. On the other, a founding member of the avant-garde Divadlo Sklep, an actor, architect, and promoter of nearly forgotten stars of Czech architecture. What brings such different personalities from the artistic spectrum together to write a book? Illness. Both encounter a disease or virus around the same time that brings them to the brink of life and death. And although the origin of the illness was different in both cases, its course and the struggle for life had many common features. This was noted by Professor MUDr. Pavel Pafko, who convinced both participants to write a book about their illness experience. Partly as therapy, partly as a warning or prevention for others. The audio version of the book offers a sincere and humble personal confession in the authentic rendition of both authors. Alfred Strejček's memories are interspersed with excerpts from his famous performance of London’s The Drifter Among the Stars, accompanied by guitar improvisation from Štěpán Rak. The text also includes very humorous passages from dreams he vividly experienced during his greatest struggle for survival. David Vávra approached his part exactly as most listeners know him.
