Volhynia. A part of northwestern Ukraine. At the end of the 19th century, about 16,000 Czechs came here. In search of work, land, and an easier livelihood. The memories of Marie Stryjová take us back to the war years, when the front line rolled over the villages and towns of Czech natives several times. The hardships of war are the same, only the soldiers' uniforms change. The only desire remains to return to safety, to the land of ancestors, to Bohemia. A gripping and unfortunately so relevant recording from the archives of Czech Radio is released simultaneously as a tribute to actress Jana Franková (1967-2021). Total time: 5 hours 8 minutes.
