Description
After the End of Solitude, Berhof continues the work of Vladimir Körner with the novel Life for a Signature, first published in book form in 1989. The Prussian-Austrian War and its impact on the morale and lives of ordinary people. Through the character of student Ludvik Machl, the author illustrates the century-old unchanging police practices that can ensnare a young person with a cunning trap and gradually destroy them both mentally and physically. Upon its creation, the work was also adapted into a film - titled Cain's Mark, directed by Polish director Janusz Majewski, featuring the star Olaf Lubaszenko in the lead role.
