Description
It is the third Advent Sunday of 1949. In a small church in Číhošť in the Highlands, during the sermon of Pastor Josef Toufar, the altar cross shakes three times. The subsequent church clarification is interrupted by the communist secret police, the STB. They abduct Toufar and, through inhumane torture in the dungeons of Valdice prison, force him to confess that he moved the cross himself using a complex construction, on orders from the Vatican. On February 25, 1950, Josef Toufar dies from the consequences of many severe injuries. Writer Miloš Doležal dedicated many years to clarifying the case and preserving the memory of Josef Toufar. From meetings with witnesses and detailed research in archives, he created a gripping portrait of a fair and brave man. The book 'As If We Were to Die Today' was first published in 2012 and received the title Book of the Year in a poll by Lidové noviny that same year. Read by David Matásek and Jana Franková, directed by Markéta Jahodová. The CDMP3 includes bonuses, total length 7 hours 18 minutes.
