A radio recording from 2004 directed by Hana Kofránková. Description: Viola Fischerová (1935-2010) was a Czech poet and translator. She studied Slavic studies at the universities in Prague and Brno. In the 1960s, she worked in the literary editorial office of Czechoslovak Radio. After emigrating to Switzerland in 1968, she studied German studies and history at the University of Basel. In 1984, she moved to Germany, where she continued her collaboration with Radio Free Europe and the magazine Svědectví. In 1994, she returned to Prague. Her work is often recognized with awards, such as the prestigious Magnesia Litera award, which she first received in 2006 for the children's book What Long Boredom Told.
