Description
This Czech-language audiobook presents the first half of Alexandre Dumas’s timeless romantic epic. D’Artagnan, a proud son of Gascony, travels to Paris determined to serve in the king’s musketeers. Before he can join the guard, he quarrels with Athos, Porthos and Aramis and challenges them all to duels, turning three comrades into four. Together, the new brothers-in-arms become involved in a dangerous mission when Queen Anne gives her lover Buckingham a set of precious jewels, intended for the upcoming ball at the Louvre. They must recover and return the jewels while facing the schemes of Cardinal Richelieu, Milady de Winter and Rochefort, who seek to manipulate the elegant but decaying France of 1625. The story celebrates courage, gallantry and self-sacrifice in a classic that remains fresh nearly two centuries after its first publication. The recording is read by Jaroslav Plesl.
