Description
I was thirteen and for the first time in my life, I had handcuffs and my hands behind my back. Prejudices, racism, bullying, and the wild nineties. Journalist Patrik Banga grew up in a Romani community in Prague's Žižkov, where people with the same roots shared joy from great music late into the night, but also faced dire living conditions and violence that accompanied a person, even if they managed to avoid it. Living in such a place meant being labeled as non-conformist, and the way out, especially during times of social transformation when empathy for Romani people was lacking in the media and among people, was hard to find. Sometimes, however, it could lead to quite unexpected directions – from working at the Sananim organization to a humanitarian mission in the former Yugoslavia. The author's personal narrative is accompanied by songs from the band Trio Romano, featuring not only Petr Horvát but also brothers Patrik and Gyulla Banga. Duration of the recording: 4 hours 29 minutes.
