Twelve-year-old Petr has escaped the curse because, as a light-sensitive individual, he never takes off his black glasses, yet he is not blind. He sees too much – and as soon as cruel fate befalls his eight-year-old brother, he resolves to pursue the phantoms that have dragged the siblings off the Earth. But soon he finds himself stuck somewhere halfway on a grim plain, where he sees only ravenous centipedes, predatory dragonflies, giant birds, and surprisingly, a group of boys, among whom the strongest saves the narrator from a nerve-wracking sci-fi moment just when he was in trouble. The next odyssey of the boyish crew reflects the tried-and-true peripeteias of shipwrecked prose, although compared to the local traps, any Verne story seems like child's play. What role does the number 14 play here? Will the prophecy that Petr embodies the legendary Finis, who came to save the group and the Earth, be confirmed? God knows – and perhaps even He does not. We are apparently not alone in the universe; however, it too is subject to evolution, and humanity does not always encounter creatures with peaceful intentions!
