Friendship above gold? Sure, but having both is not to be sneezed at... A criminal fleeing with stolen gold from a former accomplice, a burnt-out officer searching for a new direction in life, and a ninety-year-old old lady refusing to exchange her house for a retirement home – these are three unlikely heroes of the humorous novel The Forest of Hanging Foxes, whose paths intersect in a frozen, deserted landscape in northern Lapland. The initial coexistence of this mismatched trio is a bit rocky, but in the end, Oiva Juntunen, Major Remes, and old Naska build a surprisingly comfortable refuge at the end of the world, where they lack almost nothing – except for peace, as one unwelcome visitor after another knocks on their door, including a reindeer policeman and a multiple murderer... The beloved Finnish humorist returns once again to his native Lapland, where his characters await more than one surprising adventure.
