Description
We Three Kings are coming to you… M + B + M. Although this greeting was not written by the striking news-sabotage group from the organization Obrana národa on the front doors of protectorate Prague, the Gestapo nonetheless assigned it the nickname The Holy Three Kings. Lieutenant Colonels of the Czechoslovak Army Josef Mašín and Josef Balabán, along with Staff Captain Václav Morávek, did not live to see liberation; however, the history of the second resistance honors them as a model of selfless resistance in the claustrophobic hell of occupation. From the spring of 1939 to the spring of 1942, when they carried out diversionary actions, ensured the distribution of leaflets, maintained contact with London, and fought against traitors, each relied on an independent network of contacts. It is precisely in contact with them that Vácha's reportorial ballad from the darkened streets of Prague shows the character differences of the three 'musketeers,' who in conspiratorial apartments decide second by second whom they can trust. And whom they cannot, because there is another climber in the gray mass of opportunistic Czechs and a mercenary of the Nazis, not excluding the unpredictable agent A-54… interpreter: David Matásek Duration of the recording: 11 hours 41 minutes
