Description
Defeat is the mother of success – a Chinese proverb. When a top Chinese swimmer commits suicide just before the start of the Beijing Games and another promising representative dies in the arms of his lover, the Olympic ambitions of the world's most populous country look dangerously bleak. Soon, it becomes clear that this is not the end of the list of similar "accidental" deaths in the host country's team. The case is taken on by Chinese detective Li Jen and American forensic doctor Margaret Campbell, whose only hope is the home favorite in the 3,000-meter endurance race. But after she goes missing too, along with the information she could have shared, not only the future of athletics in the people’s China, which is so eager to defeat the USA in the sports arena, is at stake, but also Li's police career... The fifth installment in the series of Chinese thrillers featuring detective Li Jen and forensic doctor Margaret Campbell. Narrators: Martin Myšička, Jana Plodková. Length of recording: 14 hours 22 minutes.
