When the step-sisters head to the sea, the idyll doesn't happen... Petr's life was split in two by his departure from his wife Magda and their children, and the founding of a new family with Klára. Fate, however, compels him to take a vacation one summer accompanied by all four daughters. And even though the girls have so many of their own worries that they hardly have time for reproaches or arguments, their stay by the Adriatic resembles the famous tip of the iceberg. Unlike Virginia Woolf's modernist novel To the Lighthouse, which inspired the author, Petra Soukupová captures in a magical shorthand everything that her characters encountered before, after – and at times even what might encounter them. The colorful fates of the heroes of the novella confirm that life is indeed like a box of chocolates: you never know what you're going to get...
