Description
Forty-six-year-old agricultural engineer Florent-Claude Labrouste, after breaking up with his partner, retreats to his native countryside, where he reflects on his life and remembers past relationships. He is kept alive only by antidepressants, which have undesirable side effects - such as impotence. He observes the depopulation of villages, laid-off factory workers, and bankrupt farmers who, in desperation, spark unrest. The all-pervasive hopelessness is only brightened by memories of a long-lost love, Camille, whom the narrator begins to secretly follow. But does such an existence still have any meaning...?
