Description
What do intellectual women dream of? Ada Sabová, a thirty-something scientist from the Institute of Interdisciplinary Human Studies, has been through a lot, so she is not free from a certain cynicism, or rather an informed, sarcastic perception of the world, the people around her, and herself. Against the backdrop of her search for her colleague's missing son, she records and reflects on apparent coincidences, behind which she suspects a certain order and interconnectedness. For all these phenomena, she seeks an overarching definition, her 'theory of oddity,' but realizes that the infinite complexity of the world cannot be grasped by mere reason. And while the society around her increasingly clings to empty rules, Ada abandons its structures one by one and sets out towards freedom. The novel received the Magnesia Litera 2019 award for prose.
