The Family Friend will tug at your heartstrings, The Deserter will chill you, and The Suitor will make you laugh. This tragicomic family saga depicts the fates of sisters Bedřiška, Ela, and Vilma and their loved ones from World War II to the 1950s. The war romance (The Family Friend) is narrated by Gabriela Míčová, the rise of totalitarian tyranny (The Deserter) is told by Martin Finger, and the pre-wedding farce (The Suitor) is described by Ivan Lupták. In difficult times, one can easily find themselves in situations that call for heroism or cowardice, selfishness or selflessness, failure or successful overcoming of obstacles... Yet, love, friendship, and especially humor are not lacking in these stories. All three tales also serve as the literary basis for the film trilogy GARDENING, the first part The Family Friend was released in theaters in spring 2017, the second film The Deserter will hit the silver screens on September 28, 2017, and the final part The Suitor will be available from November 16, 2017.
