Description
What happens when sixteen singer-songwriters each receive the task of writing a song in the spirit of Dada? The result is a kaleidoscope in which nonsense meets tenderness, absurdity meets poetry, and laughter meets existential unease. This compilation is a unique project by the Osamělí Písničkáři association, assembled after Jan Jeřábek invited sixteen authors to freely interpret the Dadaist legacy. From Jiří Smrž’s sound-painting eruptions and Anna Beata Háblová’s captivating play with fire to Jan Burian’s dreamy pre-Christmas world and Jiří Dědeček’s gloomy meditation, every track forms its own universe, yet all share the courage to abandon convention and let language dance without restraint. Daniel Fikejz stretches a net where dizzying winged fish frolic, Jiří Konvrzek puts a cube on your head and sends you to admire the Tatras from Poprad, and stuffed animals tell frightening stories to one another at night, while beneath the mask of absurdity everyone conceals a surprising fragility. Here Dada returns not as a museum exhibit but as a living, untamed principle, as once expressed by Morgenstern, Jarry and Karel Teige. The album shows that the Czech singer-songwriter tradition can be playful, disruptive and free. It features songs by Jiří Smrž, Jan Jeřábek, Inženýr Vladimír, Anna Beata Háblová, Daniel Fikejz, Kittchen, Jan Burian, Martin E. Kyšperský, Pavel Novotný, Petr Váša, Marka Míková, Jiří Konvrzek, Bio Masha, Jiří Dědeček, Petr Nikl and František Janče, plus a bonus track by Anna Beata Háblová.
