Description
The album Czech Dreams contains twelve recordings by Vladimír Merta and launches a loose series of several albums featuring newly recorded, unknown, forgotten, or even unfinished songs. The recordings were created throughout 2023. The eternally improvising author captures a momentary imprint of his sincere, restless soul here and, in a series of records, invites us on a journey that – as is tradition with Merta – never truly begins or ends. On the new album, alongside old tapes, wave-makers, or a drunken tenant, we also find, for example, a variation on a hit by Paul Simon from the seventies, a tribute to Leonard Cohen, as well as a reflection on the war in Ukraine.
