Description

Wabi Daněk (1947–2017) became a legend of our folk music during his lifetime and he didn't even need to write the unofficial tramp anthem Rosa na kolejích. Wabi was primarily a great guy who had the gift of creating calm and comfort around him. His concerts were unforgettable, whether he played solo, in a duo with Miloš Dvořáček, or with a band. The sound engineer from Petynka and Wabi's longtime friend Petr Benesch selected nearly fifty concert recordings from his archive from 1971 to 1990, which predominantly showcase Wabi in his purest authorial form, just with a guitar. On his albums, he was usually accompanied by a number of musicians and the songs had richer arrangements. On this double album, we can thus recall all the favorite hits – such as Rosa na kolejích, Ročník 47, Píseň, co mě učil listopad, Fram, Outsider waltz, or Hudsonský šífy – in their authentic form, as remembered by concertgoers. And we can remember that moment when everyone tucked a glowing ember into their pocket – the assurance that everyday life won't wear you down, and say to ourselves, 'it's good, it's still burning...'
