Echoes of the Lazov contains eleven new songs by the family duo Hmlisto, songs of returning to the landscape and the paths that lead through it. To both physical and spiritual journeys. Veronika Kicková, a native of Karlovy Vary, found a new home years ago in the region of mountain homesteads in the Vtáčnik mountains near Žiar nad Hronom, where it is still possible to live almost as it was a hundred years ago. Life in the lazov is not easy and offers no compromises, which is why the songs' enchantment with the world of old farmers and ancient mythology is confronted with reality, including all its dark sides. The album Echoes of the Lazov brings songs that have been created since 2006 and map the entire Slovak story of Veronika Kicková and her family: from the initial enchantment with the environment of the lazov to a certain sobering up and loss of some ideals, leading to reconciliation, finding a new meaning in local life, and actually to a partial return to the Czech Sudetes, as hinted in the song Echo. The songs by author and singer Veronika and her son Jan, a talented guitarist, draw from old folklore, but both enrich it with new, impressive, and very original layers.
