Description
Vladimír Veit, along with Jaroslav Hutka, is one of the founding fathers of Czech folk music. Their early beginnings in the 1967-1968 season brought initial attempts at Czech translations of Dylan and Donovan, as well as their first original songs. It was also the start of their songwriting collaboration, which was not interrupted in the following decades, even as each performed solo. Vladimír Veit became a recognized author of melodies to the verses of both our and world poets. For his first album, he set to music the poems of Jaroslav Vrchlický, Jaroslav Seifert, Petr Kabeš, as well as Milan Kundera and Václav Havel. Later, he also released his own songs and prepared composed albums with the poetry of Jan Skácel, Vladimír Hrabě, and François Villon. It was only a matter of time before he returned to the songs he wrote together with Jaroslav Hutka and prepared a new authorial album from them. He selected lesser-known songs from the 60s and 70s; some of them had been performed only occasionally decades ago, and many of them had even been forgotten by Veit's long-time stage partner. The traditionally modest and gentle expression of Vladimír Veit on this album is creatively complemented by the accompaniment of the respected, generation-younger guitarist Josef Štěpánek.
