Description
Jan Burian could only record his first solo album after eighteen years of performing, which ultimately brought one advantage: the album Hour of Ghosts is not a classic debut, but contains mature, compelling songs with excellent sound, thanks to the arrangements by Daniel Fikejz. He denied the traditional model of a singer with a piano, connecting Jan Burian's serious songwriting with synthetic instruments, and invited several icons of the alternative scene into the studio: rock guitarist Martin Kučaj, jazz musicians Alan Vitouš and Jaromír Honzák, flutist Kateřina Nejepsová, as well as singers Petr Váša, Zuzana Michnová, and Filip Topol. The album released in 1989 became an event on the domestic music scene. After thirty years, the idea emerged to play Hour of Ghosts again, but for the very first time 'with a live band', and so the audience at the Prague theater Archa curiously experienced the concert premiere and simultaneously the finale, recorded on this CD and DVD.
