Description
Thirteen new songs by Jaroslav Hutka on the album 'One Hundred Years' are thoroughly political. They were created as his personal comments, observations, and responses to questions that each of us occasionally asks or should definitely be asking. Hutka never intended to write political songs. Like any author, he knows well that political songs can often be awkward and poster-like; on the other hand, how else can a songwriter draw attention to the everyday state of society, which we are slowly starting to perceive as less urgent? Times are constantly changing, we are part of history, and we are still manipulated and controlled by people, ideologies, the media, and even our own limited perspective. It is always good to know the opinions of other people, such as a songwriter who has been sought after by his audience for more than half a century and who himself regrets how politics has increasingly intruded into his lyrics in recent years. Jaroslav Hutka could comfortably rely on national songs or his hits from the seventies, but he belongs to a generation of songwriters driven by a conscience that compels them not to conceal what they see and feel around them.
