For the recording of the album Kořeny, singer-songwriter and poet Jiří Smrž invited his longtime collaborator from the 1970s, Jiří Kovář, and together in the studio in Vyšší Brod, along with several rare guests, they recorded thirteen typically urgent Smrž songs: both quiet and shouted. At first glance, Jiří Smrž appears to be a typical singer-songwriter with a guitar. His songs have a rich vocabulary and offer fresh and unusual insights into deep feelings as well as the most mundane matters. They require one thing: a focused listener; they cannot be listened to half-heartedly.
