Preschool Workbook 6 - Child and the World

This Czech-language story-based workbook for preschool children is the sixth in a set of six workbooks created according to the Czech framework educational programme for nursery schools. The little sprite Smíšek arrives in the human world to meet his friends Petr and Hana again. As he travels and stays with them, he observes the world around him and discovers transport and road signs, towns and villages, his friends’ homes, living and non-living nature, the weather and its adverse effects, and changes taking place in nature. He develops an idea of how the world should look and what can be done to help. The activities introduce the surrounding world in an entertaining and educational way while laying the foundations for a positive, respectful and responsible relationship with nature. They encourage children to perceive their environment actively, navigate traffic situations, go on walks in nature and observe it, while also presenting examples of dangerous situations that can prompt further discussion. Other tasks focus on caring for plants, living creatures and the environment. Activities on every page develop sensory perception, attention, memory, creativity, curiosity and interest in learning, while the narrative format encourages natural communication and the formation of children’s own opinions.
