Description
One evening, Addie Moore visits her neighbor, Louis Waters. Both have been widowed for years, and their lives in the small town flow in stereotypes that barely fill the emptiness. They decide to disregard what others might think and begin to meet. In their nighttime conversations, they reveal their pasts, pains, desires, and lost loves to each other. They become good friends, later lovers, suddenly feeling like people who have finally found happiness. However, Addie's son is categorically against their relationship and gives his mother an ultimatum that cannot be taken lightly. American writer Kent Haruf wrote his fragile novel while seriously ill, knowing he would not live to see its publication, and infused it with his own longing for life and love, as well as a reconciliatory joy in brief moments of happiness. The work captivated readers and filmmakers alike, and the film adaptation of the same name (2017, directed by Ritesh Batra) provided beautiful roles for Robert Redford and Jane Fonda, with a total runtime of 4 hours and 9 minutes.
